A girl with humble background, it was difficult to pursue her studies after matriculation. However the flagship skill development project of Government of India’s Ministry of Rural Development has opened new opportunities for millions of Indian youth from rural areas like her. During an interaction with DGN SKILLS’s rural mobilization team from Gujarat learning centre, Anjali, and her parents learned about the government funded skill development programs which can open up a new chapter in her life. The course enabled Anjali, to acquire new skills like effective communication, customer service, merchandise handling, etc through intensive classroom & practical training and internship. After the successful completion of the short-term course in Retail, one of the leading names in India’s Retail sector, Pantaloon hired her as a Sales Executive. The skill course not only empowered Gita to earn her livlihood but also respect and independence. For her fellow village girls, Anjali, is a role model to look upto and get inspired.

Sodha Hardik

The Narendra Modi government's flagship skill development programme, the Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana, has transformed the skill training landscape in India by a great extent. This is the story of Hardik who grew up in a poor family. He completed his graduation but he was unable to get a job. But as soon as he got to know about the Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojna (PMKVY), his life took a turn in just 40 days. Today, Hardik is an Assistant Electrician.

Rathod Sangeeta

Sangeeta, being independent always meant having a job and being able to earn a decent living. She completed her Diploma in Apparel Cutting and Fashion Designing from Mahila Polytechnic with the hope that it will enable her to get placed and be self- sufficient. She supplemented it with a six-month Computer Learning Certificate from Dehradun. She was shortlisted for many interviews, but lack of hands-on training and employability skills came in her way of impressing the employers with her skills, knowledge, and ability. Her hearing disability also affected her job prospects. She enrolled herself for the placement linked training program at the NSDC affiliated DGN Skills for a garment checker course. Post completing her training, Sangeeta, got placed with The Trident Group as a Garment Checker. Her productivity and daily output have been continuously amazing the team. She does not take her hearing disability to be a deterrent, rather an attribute which has aided her success in the professional arena. Her zeal to perform adds to the efficiency and has helped her gain confidence and speed on the machine. Professionally she has grown very fast and now dreams to reach greater heights.

Chauhan Umang

The future has hope and the future always favors the hard-working soul. Umang, from a small town in Gujarat, like all other youngsters wanted to make a name for himself. It’s just that he didn’t know ‘how to do it’ and also was concerned with a lack of funds to pursue his dreams. He belonged to a very poor family but that didn’t deter him from thinking big. He came in contact with DGN Skills through his friends. DGN Skills, after understanding his situation and his desire to make it big. He got placed in one of the leading logistics companies in India, Gati Logistics, as an operation Executive. He has successfully cleared the course and is highly grateful to DGN Skills for the overall guidance and support he received to realize his dreams.

Makwama Sumita

Parmar Jignesh

Although, Jignesh, a place famous for its rich cultural heritage and historical importance, apart from few small scale establishments based on handicrafts, has hardly any big industries to provide employment to its youth. Most of them after their schooling migrate to other states in search of livelihood. This is where a project like PMKVY has played a crucial role in the life of millions of under privileged youths in rural areas. The project ensures the skill development of the youth through short-term training on a particular job role which has demand in the industry and provide job once the student completes his course successfully. DGN SKILLS, has played an important role in shaping the future of thousands of youth in many states through PMKVY project. A hard working youth, Jignesh firmly believes that failure does not last forever and any failure should be used as a stepping stone to success. DGN SKILLS’s field mobilizers from Gujarat, during a community outreach met Jignesh and explained the benefits of the skill courses. The residential program enabled him to learn about logistics industry and processes, communication skills and computer skills. After completing the training, he was selected by Safexpress to work in its Guwahati Hub, which is the largest logistics park in north east India. Jignesh recommends DGN SKILLS and PMKVY as the platform to all those who are willing to work hard, get out of their comfort zone and make a career. He has been a star performer at his workplace and sets an example for all of them who wish to join a skill course. DGN SKILLS Team wishes him a successful and a bright future.

Kabira Nitin

Nitin belongs to an underprivileged family and his father works as a laborer and is the sole breadwinner. Nitin has completed class 12. He opted for this course, because one of his friends was already working in this sector, and he was unemployed prior to joining the training center. He had a keen interest in the courier delivery job role as he already had some information about the work. He came to know about the training institute through the mobilizers, while they were informing about the course benefits and job opportunities after completion of the course in his local area. He joined the training institute because of the existing credibility of training and teaching methods followed at the training institute. Some of his friends were already getting training at our training center and they motivated him to join DGN Skills. Before joining the training center, he lacked self-confidence and presentation skills. The soft skills classes provided helped him to increase his self-confidence and boosted his morale. He also acquired interpersonal skills and technical knowledge of the job role. He was a hardworking student, who never skipped any class. He always did all his assignments on time.

Solanki Bhavna

Bhavna is from the district of Gujarat, which is identified as one of the most backward regions of the country. She is a graduate in commerce and was keen on joining the banking industry. She attended the ‘Careers in Banking’ seminar in her college, organized by DGN Skills, and got to know of job opportunities available in the local areas. Chanchal enrolled in the Banking Programme from DGN. During the course, she was trained in banking operations. Bhavna was placed with HDFC Bank and got posted in the Rajkot branch itself to work as an RTGS/NEFT executive.

Parmar Dilip

Dilip understood the true value of education from a very young age. He was also supported by his parents and two elder brothers to study while they worked as wage laborers to support the household. Dilip`s father, also a wage laborer back in his days has now retired and a family of seven members with two elder brothers, two younger sisters, and parents is managed completely by his elder brothers. Although there have been tough times and they would have to go days without any work, Dilip also contributed to the household expenses by taking tuitions of students till 10th grade. However, a mere income of INR 3000 per month couldn’t make ends meet. Dilip who was always good in studies was preparing for competitive exams like SSC to establish his career and life. However, after he graduated, and while waiting for his results he learned about the skills training provided by DGN Skills for the underprivileged youth. Dilip saw this as a learning opportunity where he was also promised a job at the end of the 3 month-long training. At once he left his village with new hope in his mind. After Dilip arrived at the training center, he went through the aptitude test conducted by the DGN SKILLS team to map the students according to their choices and aptitude for different courses. Dilip was then enrolled under the Customer Retail Sales domain. He was also taught basic computers along with spoken English as well as soft skills during his training. According to him, he is proud that he was allowed to undergo the training which has not only affected him professionally but also personally. He is now a more confident personality and has gained a whole new perspective about life and its challenges. After the completion of his training, Dilip was placed as a Sales Associate at Leayan Global with a salary of around INR 6800. He has been working at the same organization for the last year and has been offered a higher salary with incentives. He now earns around INR 12,000 and is extremely happy about his situation. He thanks DGN Skills for changing his life for better and wants more beneficiaries like him to come out of the village and get the exposure and opportunities that our government and country has to offer.

Chavda Jagruti

Jagruti belongs to a family where her father earns a meager amount to support the basic needs of the family. He is a farmer by profession. Jagruti has studied till class 12. DGN SKILLS. She got to know about the institute due to an increase in the popularity of the training center in her neighborhood and the mobilization activity in her village. She wanted to join the Healthcare sector, but could not afford the fees to be paid to other institutes, which charges a sum to certify as well. She came to know from the counselors that this institute provides free training with NSDC certifications. She always ways had high aspirations in her life. She wanted to help others, which is the main reason she wanted to join the healthcare sector. As she was more keen and interested to work in the healthcare sector, so she was advised to take up the General Duty Assistant job role, which would further help her to pursue a career as per her choice. After joining DGN SKILLS’s, she not only acquired practical and theoretical knowledge regarding the job role but also certification from NSDC. She has acquired interpersonal skills from the training and it has also boosted her morale.

Her parents work as landless labor with a meager monthly household income of Rs.8000/- per month which is insufficient to feed their family of eight. Jayshree learned about health care skills training through her friend. Her interest in the medical field was so strong from her childhood that she moved out of her village after her 12th grade in Arts subject and joined the training conducted by DGN SKills in their Centre of Excellence in Gujarat. Jayshree is already on the path of career progression due to her high commitment to academics and job.
